Tofu as a side dish to any vegan meal is always an alternative. It is filling and tastes especially delicious due to the marinade. My tofu cutlets are simple and quick to make. With potato salad, red onions, chives and vegetables or cucumber it is a tasty meal.
Tofu Cutlet
Tofu has a neutral flavor base that allows you to add different flavors and spices to achieve the desired taste. The preparation is versatile and you can adjust the ingredients and spices to your taste.
Tofu cutlet
Ingredients
- 200 g tofu
- 1 tsp paprika powder noble sweet
- 0,5 tsp pepper
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp soy yogurt or soy curd
- 2 tbsp starch flour
- 5 tbsp breadcrumbs
Instructions
- Drain the tofu and dry it with a paper towel.
- Cut the block into 4 oblong slices.
- In a plate, season each slice with bell pepper and paprika powder and baste with soy sauce.
- Allow the whole thing to infuse for about 30 minutes. In the meantime, turn once and season again and baste with soy sauce.
- After the soaking time, spread with the soy yogurt or soy curd. And again marinate everything for about 30 minutes. Here, too, turn the tofu cutlets once.
- Preheat the oven to 180 degrees celsius top/bottom heat.
- In an extra plate put the starch. And in an additional plate put the bread crumbs.
- Turn each piece of tofu first in the starch, then again in the plate with the marinade.
- Then bread the tofu on both sides in the bread crumbs.
- Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake the tofu cutlets at 180 degrees celsius top/bottom heat for 20 minutes.
- Turn once after 10 minutes.
Tips
For the bread crumbs, it is best to take older slices of homemade whole-grain spelt bread and grind them in the blender. If you have leftover homemade bread rolls, you can also crush them. Then freeze the crumbs in a freezer bag. This way you always have bread or roll crumbs on hand. They are ideal for tofu cutlets.
Interesting to know
Tofu is much better than you think. It is versatile, satiates quickly, tastes good and has a lot of protein.
